Theatre Classes have so much to offer your child

community

Creates opportunities for kids to develop friendships and find a sense of belonging. We ensure ALL kids get to participate without worry about auditions - everyone gets a role.

problem solving

Creative activities encourage children to find solutions to challenges they encounter during the creative process. This skill is transferable to other aspects of life.

empathy

Teaches kids to put themselves in someone else's shoes. Allows for a sense of kindness, compassion, and understanding of how to be a generous and kind person in society.

communication

Fosters strong communication skills - both verbal and non-verbal skills. Kids learn to enunciate clearly and listen attentively.

HOW'D THEY DO THAT?

Ever wonder how actors fight or fall down without getting hurt?

YOU CAN DO IT, TOO!

You can learn that and more at YPPC!

Now, watch closely in case we reveal the secret!

Creating a space for Triangle young people to explore the joy of theatre for over 40 years!

Young People’s Performing Company is a great space for students no matter age, experience, role, race, religion, nationality, orientation, identity, affiliation, status, ability place on the spectrum, all students are equals at YPPC.

Our mission is not to produce the most technically impressive performances, but to ensure that any young person who wants it can have the experience of being on stage.

Since 1982, YPPC has created a unique theatrical home for thousands of young people and has been graciously granted the class, rehearsal and performance space to do so by the Durham Arts Council building located at:  120 Morris St. in downtown Durham, NC.

A Note from Our
Artistic Director

Hi! I'm Jessica Horstman Sabatini! I am thrilled to embark on this artistic journey with all of you as the new Artistic Director of YPPC. Over the past few months, I've had the pleasure of getting to know our dedicated staff, students, and their families. I am excited to share with you some exciting developments that are on the horizon.

We have something to offer for everyone and we are passionate about unleashing the creative potential in each child. We're dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive space for artistic exploration.

New User-Friendly Website

In our ongoing efforts to make participation more accessible and convenient for our community, we are excited to introduce our new website design. This platform will not only serve as an information hub for all things related to our organization but also as a user-friendly portal for registering and paying for classes online. This means that you can secure your child's spot from the comfort of your home, at any time that suits your schedule.

Parent Participation

We believe that the journey of artistic discovery is most enriching when shared. Parents, you are not just spectators; you are an integral part of your child's creative experience. We encourage parents to stay for the class and even participate in various activities like costuming and set creation. Engaging with your child's artistic journey in this way fosters a sense of community, strengthens family bonds, and allows your child to see the value you place on their creative exploration.

We are excited to embark on this new chapter together and look forward to the wonderful artistic adventures that lie ahead. Our new user-friendly website, and inclusive approach to parent involvement are just the beginning. We are committed to nurturing the creativity and artistic potential of our community for years to come.

Thank you for being a part of this exciting journey. We can't wait to see what our young artists will achieve.
